Readers say….

Going the Distance: A Handbook for Faculty Who Teach Online is an excellent starter kit for individuals new to teaching online, especially in the time of COVID-19. It has practical advice and best practices that are easy to understand. The text is more of a broad overview of tools and pedagogy for asynchronous online environment, and that is exactly what teachers new to the online setting need. The text also serves as a quick and easy reference book for those who are more experienced with online teaching and learning. The text seems to target asynchronous online education more, but it is easily adaptable for synchronous online education. Going the Distance: A Handbook for Faculty Who Teach Online is definitely worth obtaining. I will be recommending this to faculty who are new to online teaching and learning.–Jason Vickers, Ph.D.,

    A Wonderful Resource

Going the Distance: A Handbook for Faculty Who Teach Online is a wonderful resource for both veteran and novice online instructors. The handbook is a tool that creates a straightforward starting point for instructors new to online instruction. It simultaneously establishes an informal ‘rubric’ to help veteran instructors reflect, assess and improve their online learning environments. The authors do a wonderful job of providing relevant examples and resource links for all of the online techniques presented in the handbook. In fact, the examples and additional resources provided were one of my favorite features of the handbook. As an online instructor, I highly recommend that all online instructors add Going the Distance: A Handbook for Faculty Who Teach Online to their teaching resource library. Sharon Ceres, MAED, Instructor Pitt CC.

Just skimming thru this and found it full of resources already. From lesson planning to where to apply for scholarships. It’s a keeper.

A excellent source when seeking online employment in higher education.

I purchased the book seeking insightful information about applying for online jobs/employment, particularly in higher education as an adjunct facilitator/professor.

    Good Starter Kit

This is a good starter kit for those new to teaching online. It can also be a good review for those experienced in the online environment but need a refresher or are attempting to solve a problem.
