Teaching science to non-majors can be difficult, but this book not only provided great advice, it was advice that works! This book would be perfect for new and returning part-time faculty. It would be good for full-time faculty, as well! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this handbook to any faculty member, in fact.

  2. Ed A.

I purchased this book for the adjunct faculty in our dept. They found the guidance and suggestions on teaching non-science majors particularly helpful. The book offers concrete ideas and easy-to-implement strategies.

If you teach college science this book will be a good investment. The author Michael Collins teaches biology, but his book would be useful to science faculty in most any discipline. There are chapters on course development, classroom management, student retention and teaching non-science majors. It was a worthwhile purchase.
